Prof. Narayan Banerjee

Prof. Narayan Banerjee is an internationally acclaimed Indian theoretical physicist and educator. He served as a senior Professor in the Department of Physical Sciences at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Kolkata. Before joining IISER Kolkata in 2008, he held key academic positions including Professor of Physics at Jadavpur University. Throughout his distinguished scientific career, Prof. Banerjee has made fundamental contributions to Einstein's General Theory of Relativity, scalar-tensor theories of gravity, dark energy models, and quantum cosmology. Affectionately known as "NB" across the scientific community, he served as the President of the Indian Association for General Relativity and Gravitation (IAGRG). He has mentored generations of physicists and was felicitated on Teachers' Day 2023 for his outstanding academic service.
